Lecturer in Korean Studies at the University of Sheffield
Dr. Deokhyo Choi is a lecturer in Korean Studies at the University of Sheffield and specializes in the history of modern Korea-Japan relations. Before joining Sheffield in July 2018, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Cambridge and the Research Institute of Korean Studies, Korea University. He received his Ph.D. in History from Cornell University, and his dissertation (“Crucible of the Post-Empire: Decolonization, Race, and Cold War Politics in U.S.-Japan-Korea Relations, 1945-1952”) won the International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS) Best Dissertation Prize in the Humanities. He has published numerous articles in three languages (English, Japanese, and Korean), and his recent article was published in Critical Asian Studies.
