Shirley Yu is a fellow at the Ash Center, Harvard Kennedy School, and an affiliate with the Lau China Institute, King’s College London. She is the deputy director of the XY-Fintech Center of the People’s Bank of China School of Finance. Her career spans across China National Television News anchor, senior corporate executive and board roles at global corporations. She has been a frequent speaker on China’s political economy, in particular, China’s recent Belt and Road Initiative and its geopolitical implications. She has a PhD in political economy from China’s Peking University, and a Master’s degree in Government from Harvard University. Her published books in Chinese include On China, by Ambassadors, and the Rise of the RMB and the Fall of the Yen.
